Minor Vanishing

There was a clock ticking, the colour of rust
I listened to it strangely as the children played
And strands of my hair flew up with the static
I felt something twinge in my right side then
Did wonder—
But autumn is no place for beginning
Spiders come. Weaving the empty space into dust
I mark my calendar
Wait for the lights to turn back on.
